D.A.V. Public School, Nerul was initiated from a 3 rooms bungalow in September 1997. The visitsand the blessings of the honourable President Shri G.P. Chopra ji and Sr. Vice President Shri Viswanath ji during this time gave the initiative, the strength and motivation to forge ahead.

With 463 admissions confirmed and with a staff strength of 23 teachers and other staff the school got formally commenced in June 1998 from a rented school building at Sector-4, Nerul.

Meanwhile a school plot admeasuring 2.5 acres of land including 1.5 acres for the school playground was acquired from the City Industrial Development Corporation at a cost of Rs. 19,36,162. (Nineteen lakhs thirty six thousand one hundred and sixty two) at plot. No. 34, Sector -48, Nerul.

For 2 full academic years the school operated from the Municipal School Building at sector-4. In the meantime a spacious Ground plus 3 stories building of 48000 sq. ft. constructed area was built up at a cost of nearly 3.75 crores.

During the 1st year the monthly tuition fees was Rs. 200/- and the security deposit Rs. 3500/-. In the second year the security was raised to Rs. 5000/-. During the third academic year the security was raised to Rs. 10,000/- and the monthly tuition fee to Rs. 300/-.

In order to provide for the best possible amenities, and to accommodate the salary of the teachers who are being given the basic of the 5th pay plus 47% D.A. currently, the school fees has been hiked to Rs. 1100/- + Rs. 100/- as computer fee and the Security Money to Rs. 10,000/-

The school today has a strength of 3876 students and 124 teachers and other staff members.

Within this period of the development of the school, the school had the privilege of the visit and blessings of the honourable President on 7 occasions. Besides the visits of several distinguished dignitaries from various fields of educational and other allied fields, there have been the visits of many of the Management heads including Late Shri. T.R. Tuli (former President) Madam Sheetal Sharma, Justice R.N. Mittal, Shri S.L.Suri, Shri H.L. Kaul, Shri H.R. Gandhar, Shri M.L. Khanna, Late Shri R.N. Mehta, Shri R.S. Sharma, Shrimati Punam Suri, Shri Prabodh Mahajan, Shri Sehgalji and Shri Madanlal ji.

D.A.V. Public School today is emerging as one of the best schools in Navi Mumbai with the superior infrastructural facilities and the innovative and quality teaching-learning methods it has evolved. The school has a well equipped Library, Science Laboratory, Computer Lab, Resource Centre, Audio-Visual Hall and Multipurpose Hall.
